“The American Deep South is a strange universe. In the rural entrails of the United States coexist religion and faith, farming and raising cattle, nature… and alcohol, guns and cowboys.”
CINEMATEK is happy to welcome the international film festival Punto de Vista which takes place each year in Pamplona, Navarra. Since 2005, this has become one of the best documentary festivals in Europe.
It’s a moment of celebration, discovery and analysis of cinematographic forms generally grouped under the name of ‘documentaries’.

No Maps on My Taps is one of the most important documentaries made by George T. Nierenberg. It gave a second breath to the art of tap dance which had its golden age in the first half of the 20th century (with artists such as The Nicholas Brothers, Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, John W. Bubbles, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly and Eleanor Powell) before declining in the 1950s.
On Saturday 21th October at 13:00, Vincent Meessen will speak with Johan Grimonprez in the context of his exhibition and film retrospective at the Âge d’Or Festival. After the screening of Grimonprez’ dial H-I-S-T-O-R-Y, the two will discuss the relevance of this seminal video piece, made 20 years ago and remembered as one of the highlights of Documenta X. […]
