Light Licks is een reeks films die gebaseerd is op improvisatie in de camera zelf, met als onderwerp licht. De filmmaker, geïnspireerd door de mystiek van (luisteren naar) muziekimprovisaties, vooral jazz, creëerde deze lumineuze abstracties die zich ontvouwen in een herhaling van extatische flikkeringen. The Big Stick, een reflectie op sociaal, huiselijk of militair geweld, is een hermontage van twee Charlie Chaplin films. On the Spot is een studie van een ruraal herfstlandschap dat gedurende een aantal weken vanaf dezelfde locatie werd gefilmd.

Light Licks est une série de films basés sur l’improvisation à-même la caméra, avec pour sujet la lumière. Inspirées au cinéaste par la mystique et l’écoute d’improvisation musicale – principalement de jazz -, ces abstractions lumineuses se déploient en une répétition de clignotements extatiques. The Big Stick propose une réflexion sur la violence sociale, domestique ou militaire, par le remontage de deux films de Charlie Chaplin. Enfin, On the Spot est l’étude d’un paysage rural d’automne, filmé durant plusieurs semaines, à partir du même emplacement.

Light Licks is a series of films based on improvisation in the camera itself, with light as its subject. The filmmaker, inspired by the mystique of (listening to) musical improvisation, mostly jazz, created these bright abstractions that unfold themselves in a repetition of ecstatic flashes. The Big Stick reflects on social, domestic or military violence by re-cutting two Charlie Chaplin films. On the Spot is a study of a rural autumn landscape, filmed from the same spot over several weeks.
