La Fêlure du temps (2000-2003) constitue le dernier volet de l’œuvre tarahumara de Raymonde Carasco. Cette fresque en cinq temps (dont L’Avant est la première partie) consacrée aux origines et à la disparition de la culture tarahumara est articulée sur la parole du dernier chaman du peyotl, dialoguant avec la réalisatrice. Le paysage est ici central. Précédé par une autre rencontre avec ce même chaman, accompagnée par la voix de Jean Rouch lisant Artaud. Le sacrifice d’un taureau et la transe rituelle en sont les événements principaux.

La Fêlure du temps (2000-2003) vormt het laatste luik van Raymonde Carasco’s oeuvre rond de Tarahumara. Het is een vijfdelig fresco (waarvan L’Avant het eerste deel is) over de oorsprong en de verdwijning van de Tarahumaracultuur en is opgebouwd rond de dialoog van de laatste peyotlsjamaan met de filmmaakster. Het landschap staat centraal. Voorafgaand: een andere ontmoeting met diezelfde sjamaan met de stem van Jean Rouch op de klankband terwijl hij een tekst van Artaud leest. Een stierenoffer en een rituele trance zijn de voornaamste gebeurtenissen.

La Fêlure du temps (2000-2003) is the last of Raymonde Carasco’s works centered on the Tarahumaras. This five chapter epic (from which L’Avant is the first part) is devoted to the origins and disappearance of the Tarahumara culture, hinged on the words of the last peyote shaman, in dialogue with the filmmaker. Landscape is central here. Preceded by another meeting with the same shaman and featuring the voice of Jean Rouch reading Artaud on the soundtrack. The sacrifice of a bull and trance rituals are the main events of the film.
