Raymonde Carasco

(Carcassonne, 1939 – Toulouse, 2009)

Raymonde Carasco est l’auteur d’une œuvre ample, puissante et généreuse, d’une remarquable cohérence. Le noyau de sa filmographie se compose d’une quinzaine de films consacrés aux Indiens Tarahumaras du Mexique, où Carasco se rend pour la première fois en 1976. Marchant sur les pas d’Eisenstein (à qui elle consacrera un livre), elle y rencontre ceux-là même pour qui Artaud avait fui l’Europe en 1936. Sans financement et sans contrainte, elle dessine en quinze ans une fresque cosmique, documentaire et lyrique entièrement dédiée à la pensée de ce peuple et à son rapport au(x) monde(s). Son admirable travail sur la pellicule et son attention particulière au son achèvent de déployer la beauté de cette œuvre singulière. Ces trois séances seront présentées par Régis Hébraud, qui fut l’époux mais aussi le monteur, l’opérateur et le preneur de son de Raymonde Carasco. Le livre Dans le bleu du ciel - Carnets Tarahumaras (1976 – 2001) compilant l’ensemble des notes de Raymonde Carasco, doit paraître incessamment.

Raymonde Carasco is de auteur van een ruim, krachtig en genereus oeuvre met een opmerkelijke samenhang. De kern van haar filmografie omvat vijftien films over de Tarahumara indianen in Mexico, waar Carasco voor de eerste keer heenging in 1976. Wandelend in de voetsporen van Eisenstein (aan wie ze later een boek zal wijden), ontmoette ze er de mensen voor wie Artaud in 1936 Europa was ontvlucht. Zonder middelen en zonder beperkingen, schetst ze gedurende vijftien jaar een kosmisch fresco, lyrisch en documentair, gewijd aan de gedachtewereld van dit volk en aan hun verhouding(en) met de wereld(en). Haar bewonderenswaardige bewerking van de pellicule en haar bijzondere aandacht voor geluid versterken de schoonheid van dit opmerkelijke oeuvre. Deze drie vertoningen zullen worden ingeleid door haar weduwnaar Hébraud Regis die ook de monteur, cameraman en geluidsman van haar films was. Het boek Dans le bleu du ciel – Carnets Tarahumaras (1976-2001) waarin alle notities van Raymonde Carasco zijn verzameld, zal binnenkort verschijnen.

Raymonde Carasco is the author of a powerful and generous film work of remarkable consistency. The core of her filmography consists of fifteen films about the Tarahumara Indians of Mexico, where she first went in 1976. In the footsteps of Eisenstein (to whom she dedicated a book), she met the very people for whom Antonin Artaud fled Europe in 1936. Without funding and without restriction, for over fifteen years, she developed a cosmic frieze, a lyrical documentary entirely dedicated to these people and their relationship to the world(s). Her admirable film work and her particular attention to sound fully participate to the beauty of this remarkable work. These three screenings will be introduced by Régis Hébraud, who was Carasco’s husband as well as her editor and operator.
