Deux films se privant de son et confiant – avec brio – toute leur force d’évocation à l’image et toute leur musicalité au montage. Respectant à la lettre son titre, Lehmann a monté pendant cinq ans des images animalières, trouvées ou tournées par lui. Son « libellules, oiseaux, serpents » propose une sorte de « pierre, papier, ciseaux » zoologique et cinématographique à la combinatoire hypnotique. Précédé d’une miniature d’alchimie optique au cours de laquelle cinéaste et spectateurs s’émerveillent de la transmutation de la lumière (et de l’obscurité) en matière (organique).

Twee geluidsloze films die al hun zeggingskracht en muzikaliteit – met brio – toevertrouwen aan de montage. In strikte overeenstemming met zijn titel, heeft Lehmann vijf jaar lang door hem gevonden of gefilmde beelden van dieren gemonteerd. Zijn “libellen, vogels, slangen” biedt een soort zoölogisch en cinematografisch “blad, steen, schaar” van hypnotiserende combinaties. Voorafgegaan door een miniatuur van optische alchemie waarin de filmmaakster en de toeschouwers versteld staan van de transmutatie van het licht (en donker) in (organisch) materiaal.

Two films deprived of sound and entrusting – with gusto – their evocative force to the images and evoke musicality through the editing. Strictly in accordance with the title, Lehmann edited for five years images of animals that he either found or filmed himself. His “dragonflies, birds, snakes” are a kind of zoological and cinematographic version of “rock, paper, scissors”.
A purely visual space of vibrant images. Preceded by an optical transformation miniature during which filmmaker and spectators marvel at the transmutation of light (and dark) to (organic) matter.
