Lacrima Christi, het derde deel van de tetralogie genaamd Le Corps de la Passion (1977-1980), inspireert zich op de christelijke mythologie om er de scheppende kracht van een transformatie aan te ontlenen, en een identiteitsqueeste te filmen die de twee culturen bevraagt waartoe de cineast behoorde. Deze subjectieve expressie van een cultuurvermenging, een symbolisch traktaat in het teken van de dualiteit, is ongetwijfeld één van de eerste belangrijke werken van Hernandez.

Troisième partie de la tétralogie intitulée Le Corps de la Passion (1977-1980), Lacrima Christi s’inspire de la mythologie chrétienne pour en tirer une force créatrice de transformation, dans une quête d’identité qui questionne les deux cultures auxquelles appartenait le cinéaste. Expression subjective d’un métissage, traité symbolique marqué par la dualité, Lacrima Christi est sans conteste une des premières œuvres maîtresses d’Hernandez.

Lacrima Christi, third part of the tetralogy Le Corps de la Passion (The Body of the Passion, 1977-1980), is inspired by Christian mythology, from which it draws a creative transformation force, in a search for identity that questions the two cultures to which the filmmaker belonged. Lacrima Christi is a subjective expression of cultural mixing our ‘métissage’, a symbolic treaty marked by duality. It is undoubtedly one of of Hernandez’s first masterworks.
