Marquée par les films vus en 1967 au festival EXPRMNTL 4 de Knokke, Birgit Hein n’a pas simplement tourné ses propres films, elle a aussi beaucoup accompagné et défendu ceux des autres : en projetant des films expérimentaux au sein de la structure XSCREEN ou de la Documenta 6 (en 1977), par son livre Film im Underground (1971) puis en tant qu’enseignante à la Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig (1990-2007). Ce sont toutes ces facettes de praticienne et de théoricienne que Birgit Hein mettra à l’œuvre en tant que présidente de cette nouvelle formule du Prix de L’Âge d’or.
Erg onder de indruk van de films die ze in 1967 op het EXPRMNTL 4 Festival in Knokke zag, maakte Birgit Hein niet alleen haar eigen films. Ze heeft ook heel vaak het werk van anderen begeleid en verdedigd: door experimentele films te tonen in de tentoonstellingsruimte XSCREEN of op de zesde Documenta (1977), via haar boek Film im Underground (1971) en daarna ook als docent aan de Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig (1990-2007). Al deze kwaliteiten als kunstenares en als theoretica maken haar de ideale voorzitster van deze nieuwe formule van de L’Âge d’or Prijs.
Influenced by the films shown in 1967 at the EXPRMNTL 4 Festival in Knokke, Birgit Hein has not only made her own films, but also accompanied and defended other people’s work by projecting experimental films within the XSCREEN structure or during Documenta 6 (1977), through her book Film im Underground (1971) and subsequently as a teacher at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig (1990-2007). Her experiences as both filmmaker and theoretician make Birgit Heim an ideal president for this new formula of L’Âge d’or Prize.
Guy-Marc Hinant est cinéaste, auteur et fondateur (avec Frédéric Walheer) de la maison de production Sub Rosa (plus de 400 disques depuis 1985 dont William Burroughs, Ira Cohen, les Master Musicians of Jajouka ou les sept précieux volumes de l’Anthology of Noise and Electronic Music). Avec Dominique Lohlé, il a trouvé une série de dispositifs originaux pour faire parler « en cinéma » une petite vingtaine de musiciens (Luc Ferrari, David Toop, Charlemagne Palestine, etc.) au sein du projet de l’Observatoire des musiques électroniques (OME). Il a aussi écrit Les Hommes-Loups avec Dominique Goblet et travaille actuellement sur deux films : Birobidjan en solo et Rage avec Dominique Lohlé.
Guy-Marc Hinant is filmmaker, auteur en (samen met Frédéric Walheer) oprichter van het platenlabel Sub Rosa (meer dan 400 platen sinds 1985, waaronder William Burroughs, Ira Cohen, de Master Musicians of Jajouka en zeven precieuze volumes van de Anthology of Noise and Electronic Music). Met Dominique Lohlé vond hij een aantal originele manieren om een twintigtal muzikanten (Luc Ferrari, David Toop, Charlemagne Palestine, etc.) “filmisch” te doen spreken in het kader van hun OME project, l’Observatoire des musiques électroniques. Hij schreef Les Hommes-Loups met Dominique Goblet en werkt momenteel aan twee films: Birobidjan en Rage.
Guy-Marc Hinant is filmmaker, author and co-founder (with Frédéric Walheer) of production company Sub Rosa (over 400 records published since 1985 including William Burroughs, Ira Cohen, The Master Musicians of Jajouka or the seven precious volumes of the Anthology of Noise and Electronic Music). Stoffel Debuysere est l’un des programmateurs pour Courtisane, collectif basé à Gand, qui organise chaque année le festival du même nom. Il enseigne le cinéma (Critical Film Studies) au KASK à Gand. Pour le moment, il est pleinement engagé dans un projet de recherche intitulé « Figures of Dissent (Cinema of Politics, Politics of Cinema » (KASK/HoGent).
Stoffel Debuysere is programmator bij het Gentse collectief Courtisane dat elk jaar het gelijknamige festival organiseert. Hij geeft les over film (Critical Film Studies) aan het KASK in Gent. Momenteel werkt hij aan het onderzoeksproject “Figures of Dissent (Cinema of Politics, Politics of Cinema)” (KASK/HoGent).
